The Sky above me

Have you ever looked up in the sky and thought about
who lives there in the clouds?
Or maybe Why does the moon follow me?
Or thought if you can touch the moon by using a ladder?

I don’t know about you but I remember laying on the terrace of my house and

thinking about all these things.

Ain’t it funny how one day we were laying under the open sky,

We were imagining a world outside of the one we are in.

The next day we were preparing to find another world?

The time flies,

Like a kite,

Passion intervenes,

Love faints,

We are left with ourselves.

As a child, I used to lie sleepless on my terrace staring at the sky and pondering if there's life beyond those clouds. I always thought that humans like us lived on those clouds looking down at us. Maybe there would be a family sitting on the clouds; one of their kids would be looking down at me and telling his mother “Mom look! That girl keeps staring at us.” Her mother would laugh it off.

When I grew a bit older, I understood that there was no one living on the clouds. In Fact, we can’t even stand on clouds. They are just a bunch of condensed water vapors. This broke my heart. I thought to myself “So there is no one staring back at me?”. I kept on thinking until my teacher said “Vidushi! Stand up, Explain cloud formation to the whole class.”

To this day, when I look at the clouds, I still feel amused. I know that no one lives on clouds but still, there is a part of me that is dying to believe that this might not be true. There might be life there. This may seem delusional but essential to me.

We all have that one aspect of life, we never want to let go of.

Gazing at the sky was an integral part of my childhood. It is something that calms me down, makes me smile, fills me with joy right now as well.

I learnt how to dream, imagine, fly while being on earth, being happy, smiling without a reason, joy. I learnt all this by looking up in the sky.

Looking at the sky gives endless pleasure to me because of its simplicity. Positive thoughts start to rise in my mind just by gazing up above.

I always used to try finding faces in the moving clouds.

In my opinion, clouds show you what you want to see. You are looking for a rabbit? You will find him somewhere hiding in clouds. It’s all up to you how you see them. You don’t wanna see anything? You won’t see anything.

The thing is that we are so engrossed in the material pleasures of life that we hardly ever look up to admire the sky. Even when we look up, we are interested in a mere airplane more than the immense beauty of clouds.

Clouds remind us that nothing is forever. Your pain will come and go. Your fake friends will come and go. Failure will come and go. It will be you who will matter in the end.
